Lindsey Mulheron Liden grew up in the arts and crafts community of Brasstown, NC. He studied art at Warren Wilson College, has a degree in classical percussion from the University of North Carolina Asheville and a diploma in fine wood working from Haywood Community college. After years touring as a musician Liden was being drawn to coming back home. "I wanted to mix my music world, my craft world, my art world and I felt building banjos did just that". That's when I decided to go back to school and completed the professional crafts program at Haywood Community college. Liden builds open back old time bracket style banjos. Liden uses traditional goat skin/calf skin heads, through dowl stick construction as well as adjustable tailpieces and antiqued hardware. He built a shop and an off-grid cabin in Brasstown NC where he lives with his wife Sienna, a potter, their dog Marley, and two kittens Murphy and Ari. Liden is a full time builder as well as continues to teach, play a range of instruments and perform.  From 2017- 2022 Liden was the Resident Artist in Woodworking at the John C. Campbell Folk School where he develop their course selection and helped build the woodworking/luthiery program.
